Good Morning!
Totally late this week, was helping Brandon Langille move. He needed the help as he was tired from the weekend and winning the Category 3 Road Race in Canmore and upgrading to Category 2! We definitely had very strong showings in categories 3 and 4, and the women's 3/4/5. This week saw decent attendance for the Thursday hill night, with 7(!!) brave souls climbing hills in the thunderstorms! This week is another busy one with 3 races on the coming weekend, with the the Canada Day Criterium, the PRW/ERTC Road Race, and the United Cycle Criterium. I want to highlight that we NEED NEED NEED volunteers for our 2 events, more details below. Remember to join our Facebook page for up to the minute updates on ride changes, cancellations, or other events! https://www.facebook.com/groups/2316916558/?fref=nf
Announcements:
If you require kit, please order now!! The deadline for all orders is July 3rd, with the order going in July 4. The website is fully operational and our preferred form of order processing. If you are unsure of sizing, ask around in club and someone will probably let you try something on! Again, order now in order to guarantee kit for cross season! The old style kit has been deeply discounted to below cost and is still very useful for every day riding kit. Our new style TT skinsuits are also discounted to below cost ($120) due to stock issues.
July 2 – We will be co-hosting a Road Race with Pedalhead Road Works and supplying them with volunteers. We need all types of volunteers, including marshalls, first-aiders, as well as wheel car/commissionaire drivers. ERTC wants to give back to the community and this is one of the ways we can. Please help support grassroots racing in Alberta! Please sign-up using the Volunteer Signup Sheet here: https://www.volunteersignup.org/QYTW4
July 17 – We are hosting a TT this summer and we need your help! I’ll let Andre Ratte do the talking: "For our July 17th ITT, things are really starting to fall into place. I now have an updated volunteer sign up list here: https://www.volunteersignup.org/DB9L8 If you want some more detail on what these positions do, please here for more details. https://goo.gl/oGeIVr
I would like to highlight that I'm looking for someone to help out before race day as the Food and Drink Coordinator. Working with me, you can assemble your own team, and will be given a budget to feed our volunteers and race officials as well as provide post race snacks for our racers. For details on this position or any of the others on the list, feel free to email me at waffer76@yahoo.com or on my cell at 780-236-2350."
July 24th – Our sponsor, Revolution Cycle is hosting the Tour d’la Alberta again this year. It is a fully supported 60/100/160km ride and definitely one of the BEST options for you if you want to attempt one of these distances for the first time, as there are regular breaks for refueling and water, as well as a lunch stop. There will be a vehicle to drive you to the next break point or back to the line should you choose pull out. This is one of the biggest events of this type up here in Alberta (if not the biggest) We are making this a focus event and encouraging ALL ERTC members to attend if they can – we are getting a $15 discount on entries (use coupon code “ertctda2016”) and we will have our tent and chairs set up at the start/finish line. 2 randomly chosen registrants from ERTC (Registered before July 1st) will be refunded their races fees as part of our sponsorship as well. Our race team members will be out, as well as many of our non-racing members. You will never ride alone! I will let the event page and registration page do the rest of the talking. http://www.tourdalberta.ca/
Ride Changes:
There will be a second hills session on Wednesday this week only for the racers who will be racing on Friday to allow for adequate time for rest before the race. Please come to this if you fancy a slightly more intense hill session. The Thursday Hills Ride WILL STILL CONTINUE.
There may be a change in course on Saturday's road ride in order to spectate / help out at the race. Please make sure you stay up to date on our Facebook page.
