Oh boy here we go again! This week was a stellar one with the weather managing to cooperate for all of our rides, even when it was looking iffy!

This weekend saw us hosting Alberta Provincial Criterium Championships, and it went off without a hitch! Check out more from Tim, the race organizer:

“For the 2018 provincial criterium championships we had a strong team of organizers that pulled together to organize the race. The main feature of the race was the fabulous course in the Capilano neighbourhood. The potential for this hilly course was recognized early on and a strong team came together to make it happen. The volunteer efforts of club members to liaise with the community and city was a key factor in having things go so smoothly on Saturday. All the ERTC volunteers really made a huge difference, we were never challenged in having enough marshals or people to help out any way they could. This is a big indication of the health of the club. Weather did not quite go our way as it was quite windy all day and chilly the morning racers and volunteers. It was great seeing racers stick around after they completed their event to enjoy the fabulous bbq provided by TheGrillGeek. We had a total of 101 racers sign up. All of the races had strong competition and the hard course and strong wind ensured that the best racer on the day took home a medal. There were many people that made this race successful but it is important to recognize the considerable work done by Graham and Tim to take care of all the details as well as volunteers on the day: Greg, Albert, Kelly, Meaghan, CJ, Danielle, Sarah, Christine, Myron, Martin, Niall, Jen, Henry, Mark, Robin, Heiko, Kevin.”

I’m also happy to announce that we will be hosting the upcoming midweek Castrol Criterium, and will be needing volunteers with that. All the clubs in Edmonton are stepping up to host one a piece, and we have stepped up to make this one happen.

Club Updates:

  1. Yup, we need volunteers for Castrol Criterium on July 24th. We only need about 3 - 1 first aider, 1 general help and 1 person to take money. Just message me and we can keep it pretty simple. I’ll buy you a beer as thanks. Info is below in the picture.

  2. While Revolution Cycle is no longer our title sponsor, we still support their events, and the Tour de L’Alberta is one of the province’s premier events. Sign up here: http://www.tourdalberta.ca/ I will be out riding and highly recommend this as a way to get your first 100km or 160km!!

Ride Updates:

  1. Tuesday’s Intervals moved to the Research Park.

  2. Wednesday’s ride will be led by Alain. Meets at 6 at Hawrelak, rolls at 6:10, 2 laps of Hawrelak, then leaves Hawrelak at 6:20 or so.
