It’s the first big email of the season!

If you are new to the club, welcome! I try to send these updates at the beginning of every week with everything that is happening in the coming weeks, and try to keep everyone updated on all the changes (if any) to the week’s rides.

Club Updates:

  1. Our season opener social is a go! May 3 at Arcadia Brewing (10712 120 St NW). We will have raffle swag from all our sponsors, and FREE BEER and light snacks. This is open to all members and the public, so this is your chance to invite any family and friends who might have been interested in bikes to come out! - RSVP here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/ertc-season-kick-off-tickets-865652388597 - the venue can be delivered to, so feel free to order in pizza or other foods.

  2. The Bicycle Maintenance 101 course on April 12 is now full. Not to fret, as we have opened up a second date on April 19 - https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/877415993857 - free if you are getting this update. Feel free to invite your bike-interested friends who might have been asking a little too much for help fixing their bike ;)

  3. Learn to Ride Skill sessions start May 7. These sessions are a mix of individual and group riding skills and regardless of what level you are at, can be valuable. These sessions are led by certified coaches. These are available to everyone, however are free for members, and $75 for people outside of the club. You can RSVP on strava, and learn more here:  https://www.ertc.org/skills - if you know anyone who might be interested, direct them to that link above.

Ride Updates:

  1. Official rides are still hit and miss, and difficult to plan anything out too far out due to the variability of weather. Official rides are rides where a route, pace, and leader has been established, and insurance is in effect. Unofficial rides are more impromptu and organized via slack, by anyone who wants to propose a time, pace, and route. The weather this week might be good enough for an unofficial hills ride, so keep your eyes peeled on Slack!

  2. Due to a scheduling conflict, our first track night scheduled for May 3rd is cancelled. New date is TBD.

General Reminders:

  1. Official Rides are posted on strava. If you haven’t requested to join, please do so here: https://www.strava.com/clubs/2845 if you’ve applied and haven’t heard back, please re-request we had to purge all requests recently.

  2. Day to day communication and general chatter is via slack. You can join here: https://join.slack.com/t/edmontonroada-7u36621/shared_invite/zt-1t5qvezds-JotWB~e_EJcXrD9NArQarA - this is where you can get real time updates about unofficial rides, talk bikes with club members, and sell your stuff to other club members!
