PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE VOLUNTEER FOR OUR RACE!! We are still desperately needing someone to tow the trailer out to the race (the race DOES NOT HAPPEN IF THIS DOESN’T HAPPEN) and we still need 2 more wheel cars. The race also DOES NOT HAPPEN without these positions filled. Sign up here: https://www.volunteersignup.org/YRLCD
Perject KOM hunting weather! Not! I’m staying inside… Another week, which means another week where we all loved riding our bikes despite the conditions… right? Right?! Anyway. Things!
I don’t have any cheesy openings this week so let’s just get right down to the center of the wheel shall we?
A huge congratulations to Shauna Telford, as she is now the NATIONAL CRITERIUM CHAMPION for the Masters 30-39 Age Group! Hopefully you’ll get to meet her on one of the rides rocking her brand new red and white champions jersey!
Ay-ye Ay-ye Ayy here’s a blog post!~ Congratulations to all of our “graduates” of the Learn 2 Ride Skills Sessions, with 25 people coming out to the finish session - we hope you’ve come away a better and safer rider! Keep your eyes peeled for more casually paced rides on Wednesdays throughout the summer!
Aight so like yesterday was like a holiday so today is actually Monday so this isn’t actually late right?! So anyways, WE STILL REALLY NEED YOUR HELP FOR OUR RACE!!! Putting on races is one of the ways the ERTC tries to contribute to the cycling scene in Alberta. The stronger the scene, the better we are all for it. You can sign up here: https://www.volunteersignup.org/YRLCD
Woomp there it is, hit me! In the spirit of keeping these short and to the point! Tuesday saw the return of the research park after getting swept last week where everyone did a great inerval workout in preparation for the weekend’s races. Wednesday was another amazing day with lots of new riders working on more skills and getting more comfortable on their bikes and in a pack. The weekend saw the first ABA races go off, with both days being hot and windy. Despite the challenging conditions, ERTC was well represented with both Spencer King and Matt Hewson earning their upgrades into Cat 2 and 3 respectively.
Alright alright alright, still making it on Mondays! Quick recap for the week - Tuesday intervals were well attended but had to be moved as the research park was being cleaned. Wednesday’s learn to ride saw over 40 people improving their skills despite the dodgy weather. Thursday was another amazing day for turnout - we split into 2 groups and regrouped at Legislature, seemed to work out well, Saturday was a great ride out to Devon, with a quick visit out to Frickin’ Delights Donuts!
Alrighty, I’ve gotten out of the habit of writing these over the winter, but never fear, for I shall be writing you you weekly from here and for the rest of the riding year!
ERTC has officially decided to end our relationship with Revolution Cycle as a sponsor of the club. We will still continue to support Revolution Cycle led initiatives such as the MS Road/MTB/Fatbike Tours and the Tour d’la Alberta but will no longer receive the 7% discount on bicycles and 15% on parts and accessories.
Woo, it’s been awhile since one of these things, so here goes! This is The first one of the new year unless I’ve forgotten, which is completely possible. But registration has been open for some time, hope to see you again next year. I will be continuing to use both new and old email lists, until the end of February here is the registration link: https://zone4.ca/register.asp?id=17161&lan=1&cartlevel=1
Welcome to October! So I totally got caught up watching Lady Gaga’s new documentary and Netflix… no regrets, so I guess you’re just gonna have to live with me posting this on a Tuesday Night. Anyways the sun sets at 7:20 or so nowadays so our midweek rides are definitely into the night - I would recommend something like this https://www.mec.ca/en/product/5051-604/City-Rover-610-Front-Light as a front light and a blinky as a rear if you want to be riding in the evenings. Onto the news!
Miss me, miss me now you gotta ki… nevermind I don’t want your cooties. Great weather this weekend after a week of that icky white stuff! Evenings are getting really short. I highly recommend full lights for Thursday Hills this week (weathers looking great!)
Happy Mid-September Snow Day! (Yup, it’s snowing as I write this.) Weather did not cooperate last week, with it being some combination of rain, or wind, or cold, but great to see people out and riding regardless! A reminder that regularly scheduled road rides will continue to happen up until the snow starts to stick, so I hope y’all got some cold weather gear.
Ayy lmao it’s a weekly update! Big week for ERTC as we’ve had great showings at the Wednesday Night Cross races, the DV100, and Beans ‘n’ Barley / Pumphouse Cross. We spread ourselves wide, but never thin! (Ok that sounded a lot better in my head…) Anywho, a reminder to please bring lights on ALL mid-week rides. Sun sets really early now, so please be aware. Also a reminder that our clothing store is always open, so if you need warmer clothing, now is the time to buy!
Bit late this week, but don’t you worry, I haven’t fallen off the horse just yet! Big ups to all our racers who did provincial time trials, team time trials, and those who represented our club at the fun cross race on the weekend!
Ok. so it’s been way too long since we last chatted, I miss you all! I don’t have any excuses other than laziness as to why I haven’t been doing these. Anyways… Another great week, great attendance, and if the Facebook pictures are any indication, great drinking! The last couple of weeks saw the Bowness Stage Race as well as the FREE/ PRW Race Series go and ERTC definitely was well represented there, with Kelly MacGregor upgrading into Cat4, Andrew Linklater upgrading into Cat4, Keith Pask upgrading into Cat4, and Graham Watts earning his upgrade into Cat2.
